Strauss Cleaners INC did amazing work on my basement after having 3 inches of water from a bursted pipe. They take pride in the work that they do. They we highly recommend after having another company doing a terrible job to start the. reconstruction, in my basement. They are very professional.

Our process
How a mold job runs
- 01
Inspect & find the moisture

First we find whatever is keeping the area wet, checking behind walls and under floors with a moisture meter and thermal camera. Then we map how far the mold has spread before anything is disturbed.
- 02
Contain

Poly barriers go up and negative air starts running before any moldy material is disturbed, so spores stay in the work zone, not the rest of the house.
- 03
Remove & treat

Affected drywall, insulation, and framing come out, surfaces get HEPA-vacuumed, and what stays gets treated with an antimicrobial.
- 04
Scrub the air

HEPA air scrubbers run inside the containment for the whole job, pulling spores out of the air.
- 05
Verify & rebuild

A final moisture check and visual pass confirm the space is clean, then drywall, flooring, and paint go back in.

Start here if you're not sure
We inspect first, at no charge. If what you're seeing isn't mold, we'll say so and stop there.
The first 24 hours
What to do before we get there.
Here's what to do first, and what has to happen after that. If you're not sure the room is safe, stay out until we get there. Call us — we're here to help.
01
Stop the source
Find the main shut-off and close it. If water is near outlets, cut power to that area at the breaker, but don't stand in water to do it. If you can't reach either one safely, leave it and call us.
02
Get the water out the same day
Drywall wicks water up from the floor, and the pad under carpet holds it against the subfloor. When extraction starts the same day, less drywall gets cut out and the flooring often dries in place.
03
Dry before mold starts
Mold can start growing on wet materials in 24 to 72 hours. That's why we set drying equipment on the first visit. We keep checking with moisture meters until the readings come back dry.
Insurance
We work with your insurance, and we bill them directly
- 01
Call us
We answer, ask what happened, and get a crew moving. Same-day emergency response on active water.
- 02
We document everything
We take moisture readings and photos and write up a scope of work before drying starts, so your adjuster has the file from day one.
- 03
We bill your insurer directly
We work directly with your insurance company on covered water and mold claims, so you're not fronting the full cost and chasing reimbursement.
Your deductible is still yours to cover, and we'll tell you that number before any work starts rather than after. You also don't need a claim to hire us. Plenty of our jobs are paid directly by the homeowner, and after the free inspection we'll say which way makes more sense for the damage you have.

How fast can you get here in an emergency?
Same day, usually within hours. When you call, a person answers, asks what happened, and gives you an arrival window based on where you are and what's already on the schedule. The truck comes loaded for extraction and drying, so work starts as soon as we're in the door.
Do you bill my insurance company directly?
Yes. On covered losses we bill your insurer directly, so you're not writing a large check and waiting for reimbursement. You pay your deductible and we settle the rest with the carrier, backed by the photos, moisture readings, and daily drying logs adjusters ask for. You don't need a claim to hire us, though. A lot of our residential work is paid directly by the homeowner.
Are you available on Shabbat?
No. We're a Shabbat-observant business, so the phones are off on Saturday. The other six days, the line is answered 8am to 6pm. If water damage happens on Saturday, shut off the main valve, move what you can out of the wet area, and leave a message — Saturday messages are the first ones we return when we reopen. If the situation is dangerous, call 911 or your utility company rather than waiting for us.
Is mold in my house dangerous?
Mold can irritate eyes, nose, and throat, trigger allergic reactions like sneezing and skin rash, and aggravate asthma in people who have it. Sensitivity varies a lot from person to person. That's the EPA's position and ours. It's worth taking seriously, but it isn't the health catastrophe some sites describe. Mold is a moisture problem in the house, and it's a fixable one.
Can my carpet be saved after water damage?
It depends on the water and how long it sat. Clean supply water extracted quickly usually means the carpet survives, though the pad underneath typically gets replaced, since it holds water like a sponge and costs less to replace than to dry. Water that sat for days, sewage, or outside floodwater means the carpet comes out, because that's contamination rather than a drying problem. We'll tell you which one you have at the inspection.
